K.I.S.S.’s purpose is not to make you think, quite the contrary. If the goal is to create predictability and reinforce expert intuition (which is the domain of System 1), K.I.S.S is a great principle. Making problems look harder is a mechanism to force our System 2 to kick-in, in a scenario where we are trying to find a solution to a problem with significant uncertainty, and where intuition could deceive us.
